Just about in time for Christmas comes the news that there is now an official Bandai Namco Entertainment store for those wishing to buy Galaga, Pac-Man, Tekken and other game-related merchandise.
The range includes shirts and hoodies, bags and accessories, art and phone covers. The T-shirts are similar to the licensed and unofficial clothing that has been around for quite a while, and they cost around the £20 mark for most of them.
There are some more unusual items though, beyond your typical Pac-Man fare. For instance, this Galaga retro tracksuit top could be seen as awesome or hideous, depending on your point of view. But it’ll stand out at your local gym – unless they’re holding a retro games convention in the reception area.
But the really cool bits in the new Bandai Namco store are the artwork. Especially the exclusive designs created by 35 well-known artists to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Pac-Man.
Suddenly what might have seemed like an unremarkable way for a games company to bung up a quick shop in partnership with Spreadshirt suddenly seems a bit more worthwhile, even if the navigation etc is a bit ropey at launch. For a 40 x 60 cm artist’s canvas, you’re looking at somewhere between £49-99 to £75, but posters are also available on semi-matte photo paper for £19.99, and until December 7th, you can save on shipping with the code FREE@BANDAI.
Experience the slightly clunky navigation yourself at Bandai Namco Official Store. Meanwhile we’ll be revising out investment portfolio to include some fine videogame-related artwork.
