There’s been a resurgence in 2D puzzle platformers over recent years. The traditional run and jump mechanics have been tweaked in a number of ways, from mechanics to aesthetics. One new example is Typoman:Revised, which comes to Steam on August 15th, 2016, with PS4 and Xbox One versions to follow.
The game was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U as an exclusive in November 2015 and allows players to interact with word puzzles and puns to get their character through the surreal game world.
The title of the game is appropriate, as there have been plenty of changes since the original Nintendo release.
“We’ve been working hard getting Typoman: Revised updated on areas we felt improvements could be made or based on feedback we gathered from the Wii U version. Some changes were very drastic, we’ve removed the hint system, totally redesigned multiple areas including the boss battle and changed the character controls. We really look forward to seeing what words players come up with to get past traps and solve puzzles,” says Bilal Chbib, founder of developers Brainseed Factory.
In addition to the platform wordplay, it also has a soundtrack from Dutch audio studio SonicPicnic, and will cost $14.99 on Steam release. But there’s 20% off if you buy in the first week.
