Cursed Castilla Ex Limited Edition is pretty much guaranteed to become a collectors item. The PlayStation 4 disc comes with a 70 minute soundtrack CD, a full colour manual, a numbered certificate, a collector’s box and card, and it’s limited to just 3,000 copies worldwide. And it’s only going to be available via Play-Asia if you sign up and reserve a copy by April 25th.
While that might be enough for the more obsessive collectors among us, you might want to know a bit more about the game.
It’s an extended version of Spanish 2D arcade action game Maltida Castilla, which was developed by Locomalito and released in December 2016. The game combines Spanish myths and legends with arcade classics like Ghosts’n’Goblins and Shinobi, to give an updated and unusually European feel to the action. The story is inspired by Amadis of Gaul, a sixteenth-century Spanish chivalric romance, and takes place around the year 1081. An ancient demon unleashes beasts into the Kingdom of Castile, leading King Alfonso VI of Leon to order Don Ramiro, his most loyal knight and Don Diego, a skillful archer, to end the denomic nightmare.
The original was available as a free download, and was recommended by lots of the gaming press.
The six levels and boss battles of Maltida Castilla have now been extended with new stages, enemies and bosses. Cursed Castilla EX also features an illustrated bestiary with information about the legends in the game, new songs, remastered audio, and 15 new unlockable achievements. It’s being produced in collaboration with Abylight Studios, and the only physical release is via eastasiasoft.
So if you’re interested in a new arcade game to let you fight legends as the knight Don Ramiro, and also picking up what will be a pretty rare and exclusive title for $29.99, sign up now to the Play Asia reservations page to be able to secure your copy before April 25, 2017.
