As a change to the normal pre-release fanfare, the first official trailer has been released for 10 Cloverfield Lane without any warning. The film isn’t a sequel to the 2008 film directed by Matt Reeves and produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, but is instead being described as Abrams as a ‘blood relative’.
And the trailer looks pretty good.
If you initially thought someone had produced a retro-sounding cover of 80’s Tiffany hit ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’, then prepare to be amazed as it was actually recorded by Tommy James & The Shondells in 1967. And it’s a great choice…
10 Cloverfield Lane stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. It’s being produced by J.J Abrams and Lindsey Weber for Bad Robot, Abram’s production company. Initially given the codename Valencia, it’s based on a script titled ‘The Cellar’ about a woman who wakes up after a car accident to find herself trapped in a bomb shelter with a man who claims to have saved her from a nuclear attack.
It’s the feature debut for director Dan Trachtenberg, mostly known for hosting shows at Revision3, and directing television commercials. It’s due to be released on March 11, 2016.
