New Black Panther Film Trailer Looks Pretty Good

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to rumble on with what will be the 18th film since Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in 2008. With no signs of slowing down, it’s fortunate that the new Black Panther film trailer looks pretty good.

Black Panther will be out in February 2018. Directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed and Fruitvale Station), it sees T’Challa, the Black Panther, returning to the fictional African country of Wakanda where he is now king. And facing a challenge from the exiled Erik Killmonger. T’Challa is played by Chadwick Boseman, while Killmonger is portrayed by Michael B Jordan, who previously worked with director Coogler on both his previous full-length feature films.

The cast also features familiar names including Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis. Plus Danai Gurira, best known as Michonne from The Walking Dead TV series.

It looks to include more international espionage and intrigue alongside the expected superhero exploits. So the promise of a mix between the Marvel staples and a bit more James Bond could make for something refreshing. Which will be needed when 2018 will also see Black Panther appear as part of Avengers: Infinity War, and we’ll also see Ant-Man and the Wasp released.

In the meantime, there’s a chance to catch up on the Black Panter run written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, or you can pick up a Black Panther figure from appearances in Captain America 3: Civil War
