Death Road To Canada Is Coming To Consoles

21st March 2018 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

Death Road to Canada asks players surviving a zombie apocalypse to travel from Florida to the apparent safety of Ontario in Canada. Which goes some way to explaining the name of the game. It was originally out in July 2016 for PC, Linux and Mac, and came to iOS and Android early in 2017. Now it’s coming to consoles with a version for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One due for release shortly.

So you start with your group of survivors. And you’ll need to scavenge for supplies, find more survivors and deal with hordes of zombies. And along with managing the morale of your survivors, you can also recruit new individuals which can have rare abilities. Including dogs. In the words of the official game site, it has ‘More dogs than the Fable series or that one Call of Duty with the dog in it’.

And more importantly, ‘Find a dog, teach it to drive. Have all the humans in your party die. Make the dog recruit other dogs until your band of survivors consists of 4 dogs driving a muscle car.’

If that doesn’t make you either want to try one of the previously released versions or investigate the forthcoming console edition of Death Road to Canada, we’re not sure what will.

The Nintendo Switch version will support TV, handheld and tabletop modes along with allowing play via the Pro Controller, Joy-Con Grip and Single Joy-Con. And it’s easy to pick up and play, with the short length allowing for multiple playthroughs. Death Road to Canada Grocery Store

Each journey is randomised, but still keeping a focus on narrative and relationship-building. Death Road to Canada comes from indie teams Rocketcat Games and Madgarden, in collaboration with Ukiyo Publishing.
