Almost 40 years after his death, the legacy of John Lennon lives on in his music, and in wider popular culture. So there’s likely to be a large market for this new 1:6 scale Molecule8 John Lennon figure. It’s claimed to be museum grade quality, and the first 1,000 will be sequentially numbered to give some added value. It ships in the first week of April 2018, and apparently there are still some available to pre-order. If your love of Lennon or The Beatles extends to a $299 figurine, anyway.
The figure is officially licensed by The John Lennon Estate, and has been sculpted by K.A.Kim. Inside the attractive box comes the custom designed body with a stainless steel endoskeleton.
Then come the choices. There are two interchangeable head sculptures with singing or resting facial expressions. You also get interchangeable hands for different gestures. And most importantly, the choice of three different “Imagine” era outfits to dress your Molecule8 John Lennon figure in.
And there’s plenty of details in those outfits. His trademark glasses are 0.3mm stainless steel rims with poured liquid lenses. The black outfit features a real leather belt. And the army shirt version has real fabric patches attached. And you can also see the detail in the footwear options, including his trademark cowboy boots.
The Molecule8 John Lennon figure is obviously likely to sell well, and the company is planning to extend the available range soon.
“We are honoured to have been approved by Yoko Ono and Epic Rights to develop a line of distinct premium collectibles under the John Lennon brand,” said Vijay Chadha, CEO of Molecule 8. “In addition to the sixth scale figure of Mr. Lennon, our team is developing a unique assortment of pieces that will speak to the genius, character, and passions that defined John Lennon, both as an artist and as a man.”
