Meet Pursuit Delange is a little different from the movie trailers we’ve previously shared on Disposable Media. Firstly, it’s a British-made film which has an impressive cast including Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and one of my guilty pleasures, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde), Stephanie Leonidas, Robert Portal, Hannah Waddingham and Colin Salmon. Plus Ben Starr, Peter Bowles and unusually Right Said Fred.
Secondly, I’m in it.
Director Howard Webster and I met years ago and have stayed in touch ever since. So when he was putting out public calls for extras, I couldn’t resist. And having met him whilst working in marketing for a big UK media company, he asked me to come and pretend to be an executive for a media company.
I haven’t seen the final cut of the film yet to know whether I escaped the virtual bin of the editing suite, but the premiere is on Thursday, October 1 at 8.45pm as part of the Raindance Film Festival with a Q&A session, and it will be shown again on Friday, October 2nd at 4pm. Both screenings at at VUE Picadilly.
Normally I’m not one for films with musical numbers. But having been able to experience part of the film which doesn’t feature in the trailer, I can honestly say that everyone involved found the biggest challenge to be avoiding giggling at some of the lines in the script. Or ‘corpsing’ as the professionals call it.
And Ben Starr is also very talented and funny.
It’s possibly one of the more unusual films you might see this year. And probably the only one to ever feature a member of Disposable Media and Right Said Fred.
