Fancy a fun co-op platform puzzle game for your Nintendo Switch? Then Shiftlings might be worth checking out as it arrives on the Nintendo eShop on February 1st, 2018. And it’s an enhanced edition over previous versions with improvements to the level design, single player experience, and smooth 60fps animation.
Besides causing some unfortunate typo-related name issues, Shiftlings has a nice idea for a co-op platformer. Two ‘space custodians’ have their space suits linked by a single air hose, which means shifting gas between them to help both characters navigate their way across obstacles.
So a kind of intergalactic ‘dutch oven’ approach to getting through the 55 levels. The game supports all of the Nintendo Switch play modes, so you can tackle co-op with a friend sat next to you at home or when you’re out and about. And the 5 worlds should offer some variety in the way it looks as you hopefully gas your way through them.
It’s been created by indie game devlopers Rock Pocket Games, and they seem happy with the results of enhancing it for the new platform.
“We are VERY excited to bring Shiftlings to the Nintendo Switch. It’s the perfect game for the console. It’s made specifically for couch co-op but it also has to offer challenges for the hardcore gamer who wants to tackle the game by her/his own” said Natascha Röösli, Assistant Producer, Rock Pocket Games.
Aaron Dintino, Lead Designer, Rock Pocket Games adds: “The on-demand co-op, colorful aesthetics and accessible-yet-challenging gameplay makes this the perfect game for Nintendo’s newest console. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that Shiftlings was destined for the Nintendo Switch before the console was even announced.”
There’s no confirmation of the actual price yet, but apparently a one-time release discount will be available for a limited time if you want to pick it up at release. And who hasn’t wanted to share their gas with friends and family at some point in their lives…
