Free Xbox Live Games With Gold For October 2018

4th October 2018 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

The Free Xbox Live Games With Gold for October 2018 are a bit of a strange mix. The modern Xbox One titles include current top-down shooter Livelock and multiplayer cooking title Overcooked. Later in October, action RPG Victor Vran becomes available. Meanwhile both backwards-compatible Xbox 360 titles are going a long way back in time with Stuntman Ignition from 2007, and Hitman Blood Money from 2006.

Overcooked is available throughout the month. The chaotic co-op and competitive cooking game for up to 4 players from Team17 would normally cost you £12.79. Released in 2016 by developers Ghost Town games, it was actually awarded BAFTAs for Best Family and Social Game and British Game.

Livelock will stop being free on October 15th. It’s another 2016 release, this time developed by Tuque Games. It’s a decent top-down twin-stick shooter with co-op online multiplayer. But no local multiplayer, weirdly. You do save the normal £7.99 price though.

Victor Vran will be free from October 16th, 2018.  The PC version appeared in 2015, but it’s actually an updated port which arrived on Xbox One in June, 2017 as Victor Vran: Overkill Edition. As the title character you’re battling against a demon infestation in the city of Zagoravia. And there’s co-op multiplayer, a variety of different areas and dungeons, and you can tweak your character by swapping weapons, consumables and spells. So you’re not limited to a specific character class. Which is nice.

Stuntman Ignition was a decent enough experience as a Hollywood stuntman when it was released back in 2007. Although the normal price of £11.99 for a digital download seems a little rich, so if you want to experience it, download it before October 15th.

Hitman: Blood Money is the other Xbox 360 backward compatible game for October, being available for free from the 16th. And the fourth installment in the Hitman series from IO Interactive and Eidos remains a good one. Although being 12 years old, it’s been emulated and improved on quite a bit since then. But the Notoriety System was an interesting addition, as being caught or noticed will make you more likely to be caught in the future. And you can use an NPC as a human shield, dump bodies in suitable containers, and upgrade some of your featured weapons over time. It also has a good soundtrack composed by Jesper Kyd, and sold 2.1 million copies.

Xbox Live Gold Free Games for September 2017

6th September 2017 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

The Xbox Live Gold free games for September 2017 include some big name hits from the past, and one interesting more recent title. So it’s time to clear some space on your hard drive if you want to grab the freebies for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. And don’t forget all Games with Gold Xbox 360 titles are backwards compatible with the One.

If you don’t have enough hard drive space at the moment, or might be buying an Xbox One at Christmas for yourself or someone else, you can always log into the Xbox site online and click to download each of the promoted games, which will then be added if and when you next fire up your console.

Xbox Live Gold Free Games for September 2017

Xbox One:

Forza Motorsport 5:

Not the best in the Microsoft-owned, Turn 10 racing game series. Although the core racing was as good as ever, the interface for managing your garage, online racing, and sharing content all felt like it was a bit lacklustre and rushed to coincide with the launch of the Xbox One back in 2013. But it’s still a decent racing game, and it’s free, which allows you the chance to decide whether or not to invest in the outgoing Forza Motorsport 6 or the forthcoming Forza Motorsport 7. Apparently more than half of Xbox One owners had played the full version of FM5 back in 2014, but that number has probably declined since then, so now’s the chance to pick up the game, which normally has a new digital download list price of £23.99, for nothing. It’s available from Sep 1st-30th, 2017.

Xbox Live Gold Free Games for September 2017 include Forza Motorsport 5

Oxenfree:

The most interesting download will be available from September 16th to October 15th. And it’s a supernatural mystery of a game, based on classic teen movies and coming-of-age tales. The graphical adventure Oxenfree was developed and published by Night School Studio to a good critical reception in 2016 as players took on the role of teenager Alex. When you visit a local island with a group of friends, a paranormal force is unleashed and you have to try to figure out what it is and how to stop it.

It’s interesting, and features natural dialogue and no deaths. Instead, you’ll always make it to the end although the results will change, and you will need to go back and play it a few times to see everything. It’s all about chatting, solving puzzles and finding out whether your relationships with your friends will have survived. And as it’s normally £15.99, it’s a good time to pick it up.

Xbox 360:

Hydro Thunder Hurricane:

Hydro Thunder is a wave racing arcade sequel originally released in 2010 for the Xbox 360. Hydro Thunder was reasonably popular in the arcades, and the console title doesn’t radically change things – pick a boat, race a boat, find shortcuts, earn power up and play in 4-player split screen or up to 8 by combining it with Xbox Live. You’ll need to grab it from September 1-15th, 2017.

Battlefield 3:

The big name title for the Xbox 360 downloads in September is 2011 epic FPS feast Battlefield 3. Part of the long-running Battlefield series, it’ll all feel instantly familiar if you’ve played any title since the original 1942, or the later Battlefield 4 and Battlefield One.

Battlefield 3 Will Be Free on Xbox Live in September 2017

Basically it’s a very good Battlefield title. And although it’s 6 years old, it’ll still feel as good to play, especially while there may be more people in multiplayer lobbies during September. Just remember to clear a fair bit of space on your hard drive, as Battlefield games tend to eat up storage….
