Arma 3 is pretty well-known and respected as a fairly hardcore tactical FPS game. It originally came out in 2013, and you’d think developers Bohemia Interactive would be busy enough. As a popular and critically acclaimed military simulation and first person shooter, there’s been a steady stream of additional content. And lots have been scheduled for 2017, including the new Malden DLC which is now available. But if that’s not enough, Bohemia has also released Argo, a new 5 vs 5 tactical shooter based on the same engine and Malden island DLC content!
Arma 3 Malden DLC:
So the Malden DLC features the 62 square mile island which was the setting of the first Arma game back in 2001. And to celebrate the 16th anniversary of that achievement, the new version has updated terrain, additional points of interest and support for all the latest Arma 3 features.
If you’ve played the first game (originally known as Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis), then you’ll recognise the names and locations of the town, villages, hills and even petrol stations in the new version. Because they all have the same titles and locations. But with the new DLC, they’ve been joined by even more interesting additions, including a radio station, orchards, vineyards, and a goat farm!
Plus there are two new survival scenarios, and a 12-player co-op mode which is the same as that in Argo.
Argo 5 vs 5 Tactical Shooter:
But there’s more. Argo is a new 5 on 5 tactical shooter developed via the Bohemia Incubator and also released on the island location of Malden. As a mercenary fighting over space station wreckage, you’ll earn experience for you match performance to unlock weapons and gear. And you can also team up for a 10-player coperative mode against the AI in an open-world environment.
Pretty cool, and you can also use the 3D Scenario Editor to modify existing game scenarios or create your own.
Quite literally, two games, for the price of… well, none. Although if you do want to support the release of Argo, there’s a Supports Pack available for 9.99 Euros or £6.99 with unique apparel and end of match animations, access to premium supporter servers, and the ability to use vehicles in the 3D Scenario Editor.
