A pixel art version of hugely popular survival Mini DAYZ has now been released by Bohemia Interactive for iOS and Android devices. And not only is it free, it also doesn’t have an in-app purchases. So there aren’t any hidden costs to trip you up as you try to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
Mini DAYZ was originally created as a fan-made browser game. Like the original PC inspiration, you need to survive as long as possible by staving off permanent deaths. And the risks come from the infected, wild animals, harsh weather and hostile AI controlled fellow survivors. Meanwhile you’ll benefit from scavenging cities, villages and military camps, balancing your inventory space with small camps which can provide a place to stash your discoveries.
It’s similar to the previous browser version. But the mobile edition of Mini DAYZ has high-resultion pixel art visuals, randomly generated game worlds, and tweaked touch controls to help the single player experience become easier to learn, but still hard to master.
“The feedback we’ve gathered during the soft launch in selected countries was invaluable for tweaking the touch controls, as well as for balancing the overall difficulty of the game. It is DAYZ after all, so it has to be an unforgiving experience – and that’s exactly what players like about it. I’m really happy that everyone can play the game now, we’re looking forward to what you have to say about it. There’s not many titles like Mini DAYZ on mobile platforms” added Mike Azovskikh, the original author of Mini DAYZ.
In addition to the original DayZ and Mini DAYZ, Bohemia Interactuive also recently released Arma 3, Arma Mobile Ops for mobile and Argo.
