Need a cost-effective set of PlayStation 4? The affordable new Trust GXT 488 Forze Headset is officially licensed for the PS4, and comes in at just £29.99.
So what do you get for your money? Well, the over-ear design houses a pair of 50mm active speaker units, with inline controls for the volume and muting your mic.
You also get a bendy foldable microphone, and a 1.2 metre braided cable to plug into your Dualshock controller via the 3.5mm jack. It’s designed to compliment the PlayStation 4 range of consoles, but obviously with a 3.5mm jack, the new Trust GXT 488 Forza headset should also work with smartphones, tablets and computers.
The standard black colour looks alright, but the grey and blue camo designs do make it look more stylish. Which is handy if you want to look slightly cooler when you’re gaming, or if you want to buy a pair for younger gamers.
The metal-reinforced adjustable headband should be fairly sturdy, which is always a good idea. Especially to survive the occasional rage quit incident. And the soft earpads will hopefully mean the GXTs are reasonably comfortable for longer gaming sessions.
As you would probably expect for an affordable price, you’re not getting active noice cancelling or background noise reduction etc. And the ear pads are synthetic leather, which might get a little warm for long gaming sessions. But you do get a statutory two year warranty if you’re in Europe as long as you buy the headset from an official retailer.
The official PS4 licensed Trust GXT 488 Forza headset costs £29.99, and will be available from April 9th to buy online from Game, or Amazon. Amazingly, if your budget can’t stretch that far, they’re not the cheapest headset on the Trust store, with the GXT 4310s at just £19.99.
