Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is a new attraction which will open this summer at the Disney California Adventure Park. It’s obviously timed to follow the release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. And focuses on an original plot in which the Guardians have been captured by the Collector, Taneleer Tivan. Oh, and it looks awesome!

The attraction has obviously been in progress for a while now. And various people have been involved, including film director James Gunn, composer Tyler Bates and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. And now Disney is ready to reveal some details in a video featuring lead designer and Imagineer Joe Rohde.

The idea of wandering museum-like setting of the Collector sounds fascinating. In fact, if you’re not keen on plummeting up and down on a ride, that might be the best bit. And it’s referred to as the first of a ‘whole new universe at Disney California Adventure’, along with the fact it’ll offer multiple rider profiles, presumably to encourage repeat visits.

If that’s not enough to wet your appettite for a visit to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, then there’s more. Plenty of theme park fans obviously keep an eye out for any new rides, and have captured lots of video showing progress so far.

The videos mainly capture the exterior, but also reveal some of the ride testing in progress with doors opening and drops.

Certainly looks pretty close to the artist impressions. It’ll be cool to see what it looks like inside when it opens. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is premiering around the world at the end of April 2017, with a general release in May.
