A turn-based World War 2 strategy game isn’t the most unique concept in video games. But fans of the genre will still want to give Klotzen! Panzer Battles a look. The first game from Croatian indie studio Maxim Games is packing in a lot of content for a Summer 2018 PC release.
At launch, Klotzen! Panzer Battles will have more than 600 unit types within 22 different classes. So you’ll deploy infantry, and mechanized forces across air, sea and land. Which means using your planes, battleships, tanks and submarines effectively.
And you’ll be able to use them to change the course of history with over 60 different historical scenarios based on real-life military campaigns from World War 2.
It means being able to manage fast paced action across a variety of map sizes from 200 km to more than 1000 km. And tackling everything from the snow of the Eastern Front to the deserts of North Africa. In addition to moving your forces across the maps of 20 km hexes, you can also choose 80 commander skills to use to customise your army units.
You can choose to fight in a campaign mode where you use one specific nation to move through each scenario, or a standalone mode to pick from either Axis or Allied forces. You can then take on battles like the invasion of Normandy, or a historically based assault on locations like London or Moscow
“We’re very excited to bring Klotzen! Panzer Battles to PC later this year. It’s a game where you can literally change the course of military history with ‘what-if’ based scenarios”, said Zoran Stanic, Lead Developer of Maxim Games. “We’re focusing on a feature set that delivers a realistic player experience, where aspects like unit customization, unit development and the way air and sea units can be utilized to bring something fresh to WW2 turn based strategy games”.
