Survival Shooter Let Them Come Launches With Special Twitch Feature

4th October 2017 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

Let Them Come is not the first survival shooter with an intentional retro feel. The retro 16 bit pixel art style and clear 1980s action movie inspiration will seem fairly familiar. But the game has a modern twist, allowing Twitch viewers to interact with the games being streamed.

Survival Shooter Let Them Come Launches With Special Twitch Feature

Let Them Come has been developed by indie Tuatara Games, and is released on the PC now via publisher Versus Evil for $4.99 and Xbox One for $7.99. It lets you play as interstellar mercenary Rock Gunar, armed with a variety of weapons and upgrades.

No surprises so far then. Plenty of gore and boss battles, plus unlockable extra music and action movie dialogue are to be expected. But it looks like a decent combination of those factors.

“Let Them Come honors retro 16 bit pixel art and gives a nod to key action movie themes from the late 80’s,” commented Versus Evil General Manager, Steve Escalante. “The visuals that Klemen delivers with clever use of lighting, in this kind of art style, is simply wonderful to view. Between the music, the macho hero and crazy boss fights, Tuatara Games has delivered a solid shooter at a great value.”

It’s the Twitch integration that makes Let Them Come a bit more interesting. If you’re streaming the game, your viewers can choose which alien creatures to spawn, name them, and get rewarded if their particular alien is the one which defeats you.

That adds a bit more interest for creators and viewers of live streams. Pick and vote for the alien creatures most likely to kill, or at least annoy, your favourite streamer. It’ll be interesting to see whether that encourages more streams and bigger audiences for Let Them Come compared with the usual chatting and viewing experience.

Let Them Come is available now for PC ($4.99) and Xbox One ($7.99). PlayStation 4 and mobile versions are planned for release in the near future.
