New Sonic Forces Gameplay Video Shows Casino Forest

28th September 2017 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

Sonic Forces is due out in November, mixing gameplay between Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic. As a result, the latest gameplay video will bring back nightmares of being trapped as a blue hedgehog bouncing between pinball bumpers. That’s right, the new Casino Forest is inspired by the classic Casino Night Zone. Which was fun to play when you didn’t get caught in a particularly annoying sequence of ricochets. Judge for yourself whether you want to go back to the action, as this new Sonic Forces gameplay video shows Casino Forest in all its’ glory.

The music is suitably annoying yet catchy, and you still drop into the fruit machine bonus dials. And make the same ‘smacked with a cheap tea tray’ noise on the traingular side bumpers.

Sonic Forces puts your blue hedgehog hero in the lead of a resistance force against the world conquering Dr Eggman, and like Sonic Generations, it mixes modern 3D sections, with classic 2.5D side-scrolling. Not surprising as it’s by the same team as Generations and Sonic Colors. And it’s headed by longtime Sonic series producer Takashi Iizuka, who has been involved with the series since being Senior Game Designer on Sonic 3 back in 1994. Which means he’s worked on Sonic titles for pretty much 23 years, aside from the Nights series of games, ChuChu Rocket! and the similar side-scrolling Tembo the Badass Elephant.

The main addition is the new Avatar mode which allows you to play as your own custon created character from a base of 7 animal types. Obviously it follows on from the recent release of Sonic Mania (which we recently reviewed), so it’ll be interesting to find out which does better at capturing the hearts, minds and cash of modern gamers.

Either way, Sonic Forces will be available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 7th, 2017. And you can obviously start pre-ordering it already.
